Proactive policing leads to Class A drugs seizure and arrests in Kenilworth

Two simultaneous drugs warrants were carried out in Kenilworth on Wednesday 19 June 2013 have resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs, believed to be Class A.
Officers from Leamington’s Priority Policing Area (PPA) team joined forces with Kenilworth’s Safer Neighbourhood Team to execute the warrants early on Wednesday morning (19 June) in Whitemoor Road and Arlidge Crescent.
Drugs were discovered at one property and a man, aged 45, was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. Following questioning he was released on bail until 12 July 2013 whilst police enquiries continue.
Sergeant Alan Edwards from Leamington’s PPA team said: “We firmly believe that the warrants we carried out today will help disrupt criminal activity not only in Kenilworth but Leamington Spa too.”

Car Burglary – Kenilworth – Did you see anything?

Police are appealing for information following a car key burglary at an address in Leamington Road, Kenilworth in which two vehicles were stolen. The cars are believed to have been stolen at around 2.30am on Thursday morning, (13 June), which was when the owner was awoken to the sound of tyres screeching.

The burglars forced entry to the house through a patio door at the rear of the house. They stole the keys to a silver BMW M3 and a blue VW Golf, as well as taking a tablet computer. Both cars were fitted with child car seats – the BMW had a black Maxi Cosi car seat and the VW contained a grey Recaro car seat. Also in the VW was a Mammas and Pappas push chair.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Leamington Road early on Thursday morning, or anyone who saw the cars being driven away. They would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered the child seats for sale.

Summer Crime Warning

Sergeant Dave Kettle of the Warwick District Rural Safer Neighbourhood Teams, has issued advice to residents across the area that his teams cover.
Sergeant Kettle said”The message around keeping properties secure in the summer months is a perennial one, however this year it is more pertinent than ever.  Recent burglaries in Kenilworth and surrounding villages clearly show that currently there are burglars solely targeting houses which are not left secure – be it through unlocked doors and patios or open ground floor windows.Whilst concerted efforts are being made to identify and arrest these offenders it is far preferable to not become a victim in the first place.  The advice is simple but worth repeating, please make sure your property is secure when going out, no matter how short the period, or when retiring to bed.”

Beat Manager for Kenilworth, PC Pete King added “Kenilworth’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is doing all it can by working with all sections of the community to help prevent crime. Over the past few weeks, whilst on patrol members of SNT have noticed insecure premises, garage doors left open with property on view and valuable items such as sat nav devices left on show in vehicles. We need people to respond to our advice and avoid helping criminals making them the next victim of crime.”
