Flood warning for Finham Brook at Kenilworth

River levels are rising at the Kenilworth river gauge as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is possible to begin from 16:00 today Tuesday 02/01/24.

Further rainfall is forecast over the next 6 hours. The Environment Agency (EA) expect river levels to rise until 22:00 this evening, Tuesday 02/01/24.

The EA are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast and clearing weed screens.

Please move family, pets, possessions, valuables and cars to safety and activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers. And take photographs of any flood damage

Flood alert for River Sowe, River Sherbourne, Canley Brook and Finham Brook

River levels have peaked at the Kenilworth river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible. Flooding is affecting low-lying land and roads adjacent to River Sowe between Bedworth and Baginton, River Sherboune between Allesley and Whitley, Canley Brook between Tile Hill and Canley and the Finham Brook at Kenilworth.

The Environment Agency (EA) expect river levels to remain high as a result of the heavy rainfall.

The EA are closely monitoring the situation. EA incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast.

Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and stay aware in case further warnings are issued.

Currently the ford near to Kenilworth Castle is impassable, the ford at Rouncil Lane is impassable to cars and flooding on the Birmingham Road between Beehive Hill and Red Lane is reported with drivers requested to travel very slow to avoid causing a swell with the potential to flood nearby properties.

Burglary – Kenilworth

Please be aware that between midday and 1300hrs on Thursday 28 December 2023 offenders have smashed the rear patio door at a property at Woodland Road, Kenilworth.

The offenders have entered the property and carried out an untidy search through the premises.

Thefts from Unattended Motor Vehicles – Kenilworth

Please be aware that between midnight and 0600hrs on Wednesday 6 December 2023 offenders have removed and stolen the offside wing mirror form a Land Rover Defender motor vehicle that was parked at Park Hill, Kenilworth.

Please be aware that between 1900hrs on Friday 8 December and 1030hrs on Sunday 10 December 2023 offenders have approached a secure unattended grey coloured BMW M135i XDRIVE motor vehicle that was parked at Castle Hill, Kenilworth. The offenders have removed and stolen the internal mirror assembly of the offside wing mirror.

Kenilworth man arrested for Drugs & Dangerous Driving

Warwickshire Police have reported Jack Unsworth, a 19-year-old man from Moat Lane, Kenilworth has been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and alprazolam, and dangerous driving.

He has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, driving without insurance, driving not in accordance with a license, and acquisition, use, or possession of criminal property.

This is following an incident on the evening of Wednesday 6 December in which a car reportedly failed to stop for officers.

The car (a Peugeot 408 GT) then allegedly drove in a dangerous manner before being involved in a collision on the A46 near Leaf Lane.

Officers made an arrest and carried out a search of the vehicle, reportedly discovering a large blade, over £3,000 in cash, and a quantity of controlled drugs.

Unsworth appeared in Coventry Magistrates Court for his first hearing on Friday 8 December 2023.
