Thefts of Motor Vehicles & Theft from Motor Vehicle – Kenilworth

Please be aware that between 1345hrs and 1415hrs on Saturday 14 October offenders have smashed the drivers side window of a grey Citroen Picasso motor vehicle that was parked at Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth. With access gained to the inside of the vehicle they have stolen a purse containing a number of bank cards.

Please be aware that between 2330hrs on Monday 16 October and 0740hrs on Tuesday 17 October 2023 offenders have stolen a blue Mercedes C250 motor vehicle that was parked at Riley Close (off Cashmore Road), Kenilworth. The vehicle was stolen without keys indicating that it may have been stolen using a remote key interception device.

Please be aware that at approximately 0310hrs on Tuesday 17 October 2023 offenders have stolen a black Mercedes E220 D AMG estate motor vehicle that was parked on the drive of a property at Rouncil Lane, Kenilworth. The vehicle was stolen without keys indicating that it may have been stolen using a remote key interception device.

Bogus Callers Alert – Kenilworth

WARWICKSHIRE POLICE are advising all householders to be aware of Bogus callers to calling at their address.


Today Warwickshire Police have received a report of persons cold calling an address in Kenilworth, wanting to read the gas meter. When challenged they made their excuses and left.
2 or 3 males in high visibility vests.


If anyone cold calls your address wanting to read gas/electric or water please contact your supplier (DO NOT call any telephone number the doorstep caller provides to you) to confirm if engineers/meter readers are in the area and to confirm their identity.

If in any doubt do not answer the door. If you believe a bogus caller has presented themselves at your door, DO NOT LET THEM IN, close your door and dial 999 and ask for the Police.

Attempted Fraud – Scam Call Warning – Kenilworth

Please be aware that scam telephone calls are being made to Kenilworth residents. Warwickshire Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team for Kenilworth are appealing to all residents, especially the elderly or vulnerable and those who may care for them, to be aware of these scam calls.

On Thursday, 5 October 2023, a resident in Kenilworth was contacted by an offender who purported to be from the Fraud Department of a well-known bank. They told the resident they were trying to catch a scammer and even provided the name of the so-called suspect. They then asked the resident to transfer £28,000 to a specified account in order for them to trace the suspect.

Believing this to be true, the resident went to her bank and transferred the amount. Luckily, the staff at the resident’s bank picked up what was happening and cancelled the payment. These things can be embarrassing for those who become victims. However, no one should feel embarrassed as the offenders making these calls can sound very professional and plausible.

This event highlights:

  • Scam Telephone calls are being made to homes in Kenilworth.
  • The caller on these scam calls sounds plausible and can easily deceive people.
  • Residents, especially those who care for elderly or vulnerable people, need to be extra vigilant.
  • Do NOT give bank or personal details, such as your date of birth, to anyone over the telephone.
  • Banks nor the Police Do NOT telephone people to discuss their personal accounts or ask them to transfer money.
  • Put the phone down on anyone who calls whom you believe to be suspicious.
  • Do NOT fall for the “I’ll ring you back” scam. Make sure that after you put the phone down, there is a dialling tone when you pick it back up. If the phone line is silent, it means the line is still open to the scammer.

Aggravated Burglary & Arson – Kenilworth

Please be aware that between 0330hrs and 0400hrs on Saturday 30 September 2023 offenders have forced entry to retail premises at Leyes Lane, Kenilworth. As the offenders were breaking in they were challenged by members of the public who were threatened.

Once inside the offenders have tried to access a ATM (Cash Machine) but have failed to access any cash, a fire was then set inside the building. The offenders then made off at speed in a unidentified motor vehicle. Police attended within 7 minutes of the first 999 call.

Thefts from Trade Vehicles – Kenilworth

Please be aware that at some point on Monday 25 September 2023 offenders have broken into a white Ford Transit van that was parked at Lunn Avenue, Kenilworth. Once inside the vehicle they have stolen a number of power tools. The offenders made off in a black saloon motor car.

Please be aware that between 1100hrs and midday on Tuesday 26 September 2023 offenders attempted to break into a white Ford transit van that was parked at Common Lane, Kenilworth. The offenders have made a hole on the rear doors adjacent to the handle. The vehicles alarm system caused them to make off without gaining access to the inside of the van.

Please be aware that at approximately 1230 on Tuesday 26 September 2023 at a property on Southbank Road, Kenilworth offenders have entered a locked Ford Transit van where a tradesperson was working. The offenders have stolen a number of tools and made off in a white van.

Please be aware that between 0900hrs and 1600hrs on Tuesday 26 September 2023 offenders have entered a plumbers van, a white Ford Connect, while he was working at Heyville Croft (off Glasshouse Lane), Kenilworth. Once inside the van they stole a number of tools including a thermal imaging camera.

Please be aware that between 0900hrs and 1600hrs on Tuesday 26 September 2023 offenders have entered a white Ford Transit van , while a tradesperson was working at Heyville Croft (off Glasshouse Lane), Kenilworth. Once inside the van they stole a number a number of tools.

Please be aware that at approximately 1500hrs on Tuesday 26 September 2023 offenders stole a Stihl 86R hedge trimmer as the garden contractor had put it down for a few minutes to clear away the cuttings from a residents hedge at Parkfield Drive, Kenilworth.

When garden contractor turned back round to pick the hedge trimmer up it had been stolen.
