Burton Green Burglary

Burglars were at work around Kenilworth at New Year. Between 7pm and 10pm on 31 December, offenders entered a home in Red Lane, Burton Green, through the rear patio doors.

Once inside the house, the offenders carried out a search of all rooms before making off with a safe and contents. The offenders are believed to have been disturbed and left the way that they entered the premises.

Audi Owners Warned

Warwickshire Police have advised owners of new Audi vehicles in Kenilworth that over recent days, there have been several burglaries across Warwickshire where the thieves have targeted houses where there are new Audi vehicles visible.

The offenders have broken into the house and searched for the keys to the vehicles. Police advice is the keep the keys to Audi, and other high powered vehicles out of sight. Crown Watch advise householders to review their house security to ensure it is as difficult as possible for offenders to gain entry to their homes.

Multiple locking sealed unit doors, security lighting, impact sensitive alarms and CCTV are some of the additional measures that can deter thieves and also alert and protect householders.

Audi owners are also advised to give consideration to increasing the security measures on their vehicles with trackers and vehicle immobilisers.

Armed Robbery nearby in Cubbington

Between 6.30am and 6.45am on Wednesday 28 December 2016, three male offenders, with their faces covered, entered a newsagents shop in Queen Street, Cubbington.

One of the males was armed with a handgun which he pointed at a shop assistant. Another male took hold of the assistant by her shoulders and placed his hand over her mouth, telling her not to scream and she would not be hurt. He then demanded keys, which were handed over.

The offenders used the keys to open an ATM machine and remove a quantity of cash before filling Costcutter carrier bags with cigarettes from behind the till, along with cash from the till.

The offenders then exited the shop and made off. The shop assistant was shaken but unhurt in the incident.

Bikes and Conservatory targeted in Burglary

Kenilworth Residents are advised that a  burglary on the night of 13 into 14 December 2016 took place where offenders ripped the door off a shed in the rear garden of a home in Chestnut Avenue, Kenilworth and attempted to steal motorbikes that were stored inside.

The offenders then forced open the doors to the conservatory and entered the house. Nothing is believed to have been stolen.

This event reminds us that criminals are active in the area and looking for opportunities. Be vigilant and take all sensible security measures to protect your home and property.

Kenilworth vehicles targeted for valuables

Residents across Kenilworth are being warned to keep a sharp lookout for suspicious activity around parked vehicles after a Ford Transit van was broken into in Henry Street on the night of 11 December. Power tools were taken.

This most recent event highlights the need to remain vigilant and although the event involved a van and therefore valuable items could not be seen it serves as a reminder NOT to leave property in vehicles on show.

Drivers of vans and light commercial vehicles are advised to ensure there vehicle is adequately alarmed and wherever possible parked in a well lit area and in a way that access to rear doors is difficult or impossible.
