Vehicle Thefts – Kenilworth

Keyless Vehicle Theft 

Please be aware that between 1900hrs on Saturday 26 October and 0900hrs on 0900hrs on Sunday 27 October 2024 offenders, believed to have been using a keyless entry interception device,  have stolen a Land Rover Discovery that was parked outside the owners’ home at Priory Road, Kenilworth.

Keyless Vehicle Theft 

Please be aware that at approximately 0110hrs on Sunday 27 October 2024 offenders, believed to have been using a keyless entry interception device, have entered a black Jaguar F Pace SRV motor vehicle parked on a drive atAmhurst Road, Kenilworth. The offenders have started the vehicle, reversed off the drive and made off. The vehicle was found dumped at Balsall Common later and two males wearing balaclavas were seen making off.

Car Key Burglary 

Please be aware that at approximately 0100hrs on Sunday 27 October 2024 offenders have entered an address at Cromwell Lane, Burton Green, Kenilworth by snapping the lock on a rear door. Once inside the offenders have located the keys to a Range Rover Sport and left the property and stole the motor vehicle.

These latest events highlight the need to take extra precautions and deterrents to protect high value motor vehicles that are the subject of interest by criminals. Currently, the motor vehicles most at risk and most sought after by criminals are Land Rover/Range Rovers, Audi Q3’s and BMW series.

 

Kenilworth Watch advises;

 

  • The use of visible robust steering locks such as Disclock.
  • Ensure any keys with a remove unlocking ability are placed in a Faraday box or pouch within the home.
  • Do not leave vehicle keys close to a front door or on show within a property.
  • Change door locks on your property to Anti Snap locks which is a major deterrent to potential intruders
  • Consider CCTV coverage where a vehicle is parked that alerts if movement in the area is detected.
  • Fit a tracking system to the vehicle if one was not fitted when the vehicle was manufactured.
  • There is a security upgrade for Land Rover/Range Rover/Jaguar motor vehicles which was issued earlier in the summer of 2024. Check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is included.

Vehicle Theft & Attempt Vehicle Theft – Kenilworth

Please be aware that at a time before midday on Friday 18 October 2024 offenders have broken into a property at Thickthorn Close, Kenilworth and carried out an untidy search for the keys to a camper van parked on the drive at the property. 

Having located the camper van keys the offenders then removed the steering lock and have stolen the vehicle. The last reported sighting of the camper van was Common Lane, Kenilworth.

Please be aware that on Friday afternoon 18 October 2024, three male suspects wear witnessed get out of a black VW Golf motor vehicle and enter the drive of a house at Cromwell Lane, Burton Green, Kenilworth.

While on the drive they interfered with the vehicle and used a keyless entry device to gain unauthorised access to Range Rover parked on the drive of the home. The offenders then entered the vehicle and it is believed that they tried for several minutes to start the vehicle with the intention to steal it. Fortunately, the vehicle was fitted with an immobiliser that thwarted the offenders who were spooked when the householders dog started barking and consequently made off without taking the vehicle.

Thefts from Vehicles – Kenilworth

Please be aware that the following thefts have taken place in the Kenilworth area.

At School Lane, Kenilworth both wing mirrors have been taken from a blue Peugeot 106 motor vehicle between 18:00hrs on Sunday 6 October and 09:00hrs on Tuesday 8 October 2024.

At Cromwell Lane, Kenilworth offenders entered a Ford Ranger at around 02:40hrs on Wednesday 9 October 2024. The vehicle was parked on a driveway and the offenders were disturbed by the home owner, however, items were taken from inside vehicle.

Keyless Vehicle Theft – Kenilworth

Please beware that between 1200 midday and 1820hrs on Sunday 6 October 2024 offenders have stolen a Range Rover Discovery from a driveway at Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth. The theft was carried by foiling a keyless entry on the vehicle.

As subscribers to Kenilworth Watch will know one of the crimes that we report with our crime alerts is the theft of motor vehicles in and around Kenilworth that have keyless entry system to which some criminals use interception techniques to foil and steal the vehicle, often from the private drive of the home where the vehicle owner lives.

Vehicle Theft – Kenilworth

Please be aware that between 1500hrs on Thursday 3 October and 0800hrs on Friday 4 October 2024 offenders have stolen, by unknown means, a Citroen C4 motor vehicle that was parked on premises at Princes Drive Industrial Estate, Coventry Road, Kenilworth.
