National Grid have just updated us (2100hrs) and advised that they are still aiming to complete the repairs and restore electricity supplies to those properties which remain off supply by approximately 23:00hrs.

Further to the latest update on the power outage still affecting parts of eastern Kenilworth.

The following bulletin has been issued by Kenilworth Fire Station:

We have just returned from an underground electrical fire on Glasshouse Lane near the site of the new School.

The fire involved an underground high voltage electricity cable. National Grid are on site and looking to rectify the problem. Nearby properties may be experiencing a power outage.

Fire crews stood by whilst National Grid isolated the power to the cable and the sub station nearby.

We were called at 15:11 today.

National Grid are continuing to work on the power supply problems affecting customers in the Kenilworth (CV8) area.

Some 1201 properties in the area remain without power. National Grid engineers have managed to restore power supplies to 1764 properties that were orginally affected.

The situation that engineers are facing are challenging. Unfortunately there are 2 faults on a underground cable which means engineers are unable to re-route the power to restore all supplies. As a result, engineers are in the process of installing emergency generators on to the relevant electrical substations and transformers to restore supplies.

Consequently, engineers currently working on the fault and the installation of emergency generation are continuing to estimate that it could be 2300hrs before the remaining interrupted power supplies are restored.

Kenilworth Watch would like to express its appreciation to all those ar National Grid who are dealing with these problems and working on a Saturday evening to get electricity supplies restored.

National Grid report that they have got most power supplies back on in the Kenilworth (CV8) area but are working to restore the remaining properties still without power by approximately 23:00hrs.

National Grid apologises for the further delay to those affected.
