Brazen Theft in Kenilworth – Saturday Night – Butler Close

Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses after brazen thieves walked in through the unlocked front door of a home in Butler Close, Kenilworth and stole the car keys whilst the family was watching TV in another room. After stealing the keys, the thieves stole a grey Audi A3 saloon off the driveway outside.

The burglary occurred sometime between 6.15pm and 9.30pm on Saturday 14 January. Officers checked with neighbours to see if anyone had seen or heard the burglary and are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to please come forward.

This event highlights the need to keep doors secured even when you are in your home. Notwithstanding the loss of a vehicle, which is bad enough, criminals being able to walk into homes provides opportunities for a whole range of different crimes. So please make sure your home is secure whether you are at home or out and about.

  1. Hi Fraser, I’m saddened by this event which occurred to a friend; we don’t think it will happen to us. I was burgled whilst living in another part of the country and it did make me more aware. May I repeat the comment I made in August last year:

Hi Fraser, A sad reflection on the times we live in so thanks very much for this valuable advice for all of us. Let’s also keep our windows closed and doors, sheds and garages locked even when at home and car keys out of sight. regards, Andy Garsed, Southbank Rd, NHW

  2. Totally agree Andy. I guess we are all a little guilty of thinking things always happen to others but alas it’s feeling that only lasts until it is you! What concerns me about this is what could happen with unlocked doors etc. Its terrible we have treat our homes like prisons but I fear we have no option but to do so if we are avoid more of this type of event. Thanks for your comment and interest, it’s good to get feedback and know someone is out there and cares. Fraser
