Car Key Burglaries – Warning by Neighbourhood Watch

Car Key Burglaries are taking place in Kenilworth with two vehicles stolen from outside owners homes over the past few nights. Crown Watch are advising Kenilworth residents to take extra care about securing their vehicles and homes before retiring to bed.

The practice of leaving car keys close to and in sight of the front or even rear doors of a property should be avoided at all costs says Crown Watch, Kenilworth’s most long-standing Neighbourhood Watch scheme that looks after northern Windy Arbour.

Crown Watch advise that homeowners should ensure that all household doors and windows are secure and locked last thing at night and that keys for vehicles of any type be kept well away from front or rear doors and also not left on show. In some cases these crimes have involved ‘fishing rods’ inserted through letterboxes to obtain keys left on a side shelf or table. So its really important not to leave keys about even if your doors are securely locked.

Once again, this is a crime that requires the unwitting help of property owners so we are appealing to all residents to take responsibility and take steps to secure and keep your property safe. This is particularly important at this time of the year when residents tend to be about their gardens etc more. Details of these latest crimes are provided below;
