LOOK OUT FOR KENILWORTH’S SENIOR & VULNERABLE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY
Please be aware that there have been a number of incidents in Kenilworth over the past few days involving doorstep callers suggesting to householders that they need work doing on their home. These individuals have targeted more senior and in some cases vulnerable householders and consequently have tricked householders to pay money to them.
One of the events involved a different method known as a ‘courier scam’.
One householder was advised they needed to purchase several gift cards for an online internet search company to enable nuisance phone calls to stop being made to the householders phone and that these cards would be picked up at the address. Fortunately, alert shop staff questioned the householder when purchasing all the cards and immediately reported the matter.
Warwickshire Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team for Kenilworth are asking all householders to be aware of this and do not accept or agree to work by cold callers or follow up callers on the doorstep. They are also asking all people that call in or care for the more senior members of the community to be vigilant and where appropriate warn householders of this danger.
