In the early hours of Wednesday 18 January 2023 Police Dog Kasper and his Handler spotted a Citroën motor vehicle on the forecourt of the Shell Petrol station Birmingham Road Hatton. The vehicle was a clone on false plates and had been stolen from Coventry in a Burglary in October 2022. Additional Warwickshire Police units attended the petrol station and boxed the vehicle in preventing the potential for a dangerous pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and arrested. Police also arrested a male passenger from the Citroën motor vehicle.
The Citroen motor vehicle and arrested males are believed to be linked to six “Theft from motor vehicle” offences across Warwickhsire including Rugby, Kenilworth, Long Itchington and Cubbington since the 16th January 2023.
The driver was wanted by West Midlands Police for a Theft from motor vehicle offence and is also disqualified from driving. Upon arrest the driver was found him in possession of Class A Drugs. Police recovered the motor vehicle from the scene. Both suspects have now been charged with all the offences and have been remanded in custody to subsequently appear at Court.
The arrests have been welcomed by Kenilworth’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, PC Boughton and PC Finch said “This is great work by colleague Police Officers and a dog unit. Two suspects who are suspected of commiting vehicle crime offences in Kenilworth recently have been detained with a remand application made to the court following charges”.
Well done Kasper!!

1st class work- now let’s see how the courts deal with them and whether they lead the Police to others.
