More Unlocked Vehicles = More Thefts in Kenilworth

Despite countless warnings from Warwickshire Police and Crown Watch some residents in Kenilworth continue to leave vehicles unlocked and valuables within them! The consequence is that sooner or later a criminal will help themselves. That’s what happened last week (details below).

We can expect more such events as criminals are attracted to Kenilworth for ‘easy pickings’ with unlocked cars containing laptops, sat navs and other valuables inside.

In the early hours of 18th July (between Friday midnight and 10am on Saturday morning) unknown offender/s entered insecured vehicles and stole valuables from within.

The three areas where these crimes were committed were Barrowfield Court car park off Barrowfield Lane, Towers Close and Dudley Road.

If you saw anything suspicious please call 101 quoting individual incident numbers.
Barrowfield Court – 0251 19/07/2015
Towers Close – 0319 18/07/2015

Theft from Unattended Motor Vehicles – Kenilworth

In the early hours of 15 May 2015 between 5am and 8am three vehicles were broken into by means of smashing the front passenger window and taking baggage from within the vehicles. The three locations where the crimes occurred were Lower Ladyes Hills, Manor Road and Henry Street, Kenilworth.

Once again these latest crimes highlight the message that we seem unable to get through to some residents – please do not leave items on show in a vehicle. Even a bag is tempting because to the criminal it’s worth smashing a window or forcing a door because they could be lucky and find something valuable in the bag.

Leaving laptops or tablets (iPads etc) or Sat Navs, even their chargers on show that suggest such a device might be somewhere in the vehicle, should all be avoided.

Please DO NOT leave valuable items in vehicles when parked, even when on your own private drive. It takes less than 10 seconds for a thief to steal them!

LIVE CRIME ALERT – Telephone Bank Scam Active in Warwickshire Now

Please be aware that Warwickshire/WestMercia Police have been receiving calls within the last 30 minutes from residents reporting that they have received a phone call from a caller stating they are from Hammersmith Police saying that an offender had removed a large amount of cash from their credit card provider or bank and they needed to check bank details and the pin numbers.

Please just put the phone down and under no circumstances give out your bank details or pin number. Make sure the caller has cleared the line by checking you have a dialling tone and then call Warwickshire Police on 101.

Your bank or the Police never ask for your pin number so NEVER give it out to anyone. Please pass this alert on especially to people who may not use the internet or social media and think of neighbours and friends who maybe elderly. Please put them in the picture to forewarn them but without unduly alarming them.

Many thanks.
