KENILWORTH WATCH would like place on record it’s thanks to the town’s Safer Neighbourhood Team for helping to deliver a safer community by their attentive patrolling and tenacious policing. On Wednesday 28 April 2021 PC Steve Jones and PSCO Rachael Clayton whilst on patrol reported

“Today’s unlucky customer not only drove past a fully marked police vehicle using his mobile phone but when stopped a very distinctive smell led to further enquires and he then failed a roadside cannabis drug swipe – he is arrested and is currently in custody. Passenger was also issued a cannabis street warning for possession.

Using a mobile phone can lead to 6 penalty points and a £200 fine.

Being caught drug driving can lead to a ban.

These consequences are associated with two of the #fatalfive “

The Fatal Five are:

1. Inappropriate or excessive speed
2. Not wearing a seat belt
3. Driver distractions including using a mobile devices such as phones, ‘sat navs’ and tablets
4. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
5. Careless or inconsiderate driving

In addition, Kenilworth’s Safer Neighbourhood Team have identified, stopped and apprehended a number of drivers this year for driving vehicles without insurance or without a driving licence. The vehicles have been seized and the drivers reported to court.

Kenilworth Watch welcomes this activity as it sends out a clear message to all that driving vehicles that are not roadworthy, insured or are driven by persons not legally able to do so are likely to be stopped by the Safer Neighbourhood Team with the potential consequences for the driver of facing a fine, penalty points or being the charged to appear in court.

Please be aware that between 1700hrs on Tuesday 27 April and 0630hrs on Wednesday 28 April 2021 offenders have stolen a white Ford Transit motor vehicle from a parking area located at Churchill Avenue, Kenilworth.

WARWICKSHIRE POLICE are currently dealing with a number of reports of doorstep callers known commonly as “Nottingham Knockers” calling at addresses across Kenilworth including Dalehouse Lane, Beehive Hill, Albion Street, Arthur Street, School Lane.

Officers have intercepted persons and seized some stock from them. At this point no offences have been disclosed and police patrols are ongoing.

Kenilworth residents are advised that they should take care when choosing to open their doors to unexpected callers and doorstep sellers. If in doubt please don’t answer or open the door.

Kenilworth’s Safer Neighbourhood Team policing team would like to thank several Kenilworth residents who contacted Warwickshire Police promptly today which has led to the interception of persons selling at doorsteps without a legitimate peddlers licence.

Please be aware that between 0215hrs and 0230hrs on Friday 23 April 2021 offenders broke into a property at Fishponds Road, Kenilworth by forcing open the rear door. Once inside they have taken the keys to a black Audi RS4 that was parked at the property. The offenders have then stolen the Audi RS4 motor vehicle.
