Covid-19 Restrictions – More Fines Issued in Kenilworth

KENILWORTH’s SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAM issued fines for a breach of the current Covid-19 lockdown restrictions whilst they were on patrol on Friday evening (15 January 2021) when they came across a vehicle parked up on Castle Road, Kenilworth.

Inside were two young adults .. it was ascertained that they did not live together (nor are they in a support bubble), they were not in Kenilworth “for exercise” and both were from Coventry.

Fake Covid-19 Vaccine Email & Text Messages Warning

KENILWORTH residents are advised to be vigilant about fake COVID-19 vaccine emails that try to trick the vulnerable & elderly.

Warwickshire Police are advising people that within the past few days there have been reports of individuals targeting the elderly about administering fake Covid-19 vaccinations for a fee.

Police across the UK are also reporting that they are also seeing fake emails being sent to the vulnerable and elderly purporting to be the NHS and asking them to click on a link to obtain vaccines.

Those receiving such calls are then usually asked to provide a payment or bank details.

Please note that:

The NHS will never ask for payment or bank details from patients.

Please be vigilant to this despicable scam at such a difficult and worrying time. If you care for, or know of anyone that is vulnerable and elderly, please make them aware of this scam and reassure them not to respond in any way to such emails.

This latest and unwelcome development comes within days of reports that members of the public have been sent text messages claiming to be from the NHS, offering them the opportunity to sign up for the vaccine. The texts ask the recipient to click on a link which takes them to an online form where they are prompted to input personal and financial details.

In some cases the online form has looked very similar to the real NHS website.

Please remember: The vaccine is only available via the NHS and is free of charge.

The NHS will never ask you for details about your bank account or to pay for the vaccine.
