The need for ongoing vigilance by Kenilworth residents is reinforced with news of the following incidents:

Bicycle Theft

Please be aware that between 14.30hrs and 16.30hrs on Saturday 25 November 2018 offenders have stolen a black “Whyte 120” mountain bike that was secured in cycle racks at High Street, Kenilworth.

Criminal Damage

Please be aware that at just after midnight (around 00.05hrs on Monday 26 November 2018) offenders have smashed the glass in a large upvc door at Clinton Lane, Kenilworth.

Burglary
Please be aware that between 24 November and 25 November offenders have broken into a property at Ashfield Road, Kenilworth. Once inside they have removed a safe.

Two Robberies & Burglary – Kenilworth

A robbery and burglary took place in Kenilworth on Saturday 24 November with a further robbery taking place in the early hours of this morning.

Burglary

Please be aware that between 11.30hrs and 19.30hrs on Saturday 24 November 2018 offenders have broken into a property through a rear bedroom window at Malthouse Lane, Kenilworth. Once inside they have carried out an untidy search. A laptop computer was stolen, it is not possible to confirm at present if other items have been taken.

Robbery
Please be aware that between 12.30hrs and 13.00hrs on Saturday 24 November 2018 two teenagers were robbed of £10 cash by two male teenagers at the junction of Station Road and Waverley Road, Kenilworth.
Both offenders were described as being approximately 18/20 years old, one was wearing a grey hoody with a strip of white on the hood, grey tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with white soles. The second offender was wearing a black hooded jacket that was had an underneath hood that was grey, black trousers and black shoes.

Robbery
Please be aware that at around 04.00hrs on Sunday 25 November 2018 a group individuals took a taxi from Warwick St, Leamington Spa. After dropping one person off at Leek Wootton the offenders forced the taxi driver out his driving seat and put him the back of the taxi with one of the offenders then driving the taxi. The offenders then stole all the taxi driver’s takings, the keys to the taxi and attempted to take his mobile phone. The offenders stopped the taxi at Farmer Ward Road, Kenilworth where they made off on foot.

Kenilworth Man Jailed for supplying Crack Cocaine & Heroin

A county lines drugs gang that shipped hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of drugs from Birmingham into Warwick and Leamington Spa has today been jailed for more than 20 years.

The group made more than 300 shipments of crack cocaine and heroin into the towns between February 2015 and October 2016.

Each shipment consisted of drugs with an estimated street value of between £500 – £1000. The investigation into the gang was launched by the Warwickshire Police Serious Organised Crime Unit in 2015 after a number of local policing investigations identified the organised supply of drugs into towns.

Following the sentencing, Detective Inspector Alan Townsend from the Warwickshire Police Serious Organised Crime Unit said: “This was a well organised operation that saw drugs being transported into Warwickshire on an industrial scale. It was a typical county lines drugs business, with runners used to transport the goods from a large city into smaller towns.”

“As with many investigations into serious organised crime groups, this investigation started following local operations carried out by local policing teams and the intelligence they gathered as a result of these operations. These local operations helped the serious organised crime unit to piece together the bigger picture and target those responsible.”

“Intelligence provided by members of the public was key to bringing about this conviction. People should be reassured that we do act on all the information they provide about drug dealing in their communities and we do take action.”

Details of those sentenced – all were sentenced for conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin:

Michael John Hedli, 41, of Humphris Street, Warwick, was sentenced to 6 and a half years after being found guilty.

Paul Noel Hodgson, 26, of Holly Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, was sentenced to 3 and a half years after being found guilty.

Steven Kevin Bicknell, 33, of Field Barn Road, Hampton Magna, Warwickshire, was sentenced to 3 and a half years after being found guilty.

Shaan Ali Khan, aged 20, of Kenilworth, was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months after pleading guilty.

Ian John Ward, 45, of Wellesbourne Road, Birmingham, was sentenced to five and a half years after being found guilty.

“The convictions follow a long and complex investigation and I’d like to praise the persistence and professionalism of everyone involved in the operation.

“Drug use fuels violence and petty crime, increasing pressure on police, health services and other public agencies; It’s vital that we do all we can to cut off supply lines such as this and ensure those responsible are put behind bars.” Detective Inspector Townsend added.

Theft from Motor Vehicle – Siddeley Avenue

The need for continued vigilance by Kenilworth Residents continues.

Please be aware that between 18.00hrs and 22.00hrs on Wednesday 21 November 2018 offenders have forced entry to a silver BMW motor vehicle that was parked on the roadside at Siddeley Avenue, Kenilworth. Several items were taken from the vehicle’s boot which was also entered.

Burglary, Vehicle Crime, and Criminal Damage – Kenilworth

Burglary

Please be aware that between 12.05hrs and 20.20hrs on Monday 19 November 2018 offenders have entered a property through a first floor window and burgled a home at Malthouse Lane, Kenilworth. An untidy search was made of the home with items of jewellery being taken.

Theft from Unattended Motor Vehicles

Please be aware that between midnight and 0200hrs on Tuesday 20 November 2018 offenders have entered a secured and unattended Range Rover motor vehicle parked at School Lane, Kenilworth. Having accessed the vehicle they stole a gym bag from the interior.

Please be aware that between 18.00hrs on Tuesday 20 November and 07.30hrs on Wednesday 21 November 2018 offenders have entered an unattended Mazda motor vehicle parked at Clinton Lane, Kenilworth and stolen the vehicle log book.

Attempt Burglary
Please be aware that between Saturday 17 November and Sunday 18 November 2018 offenders have tried to force open a garage door at Laneham Place, Kenilworth. The offnders have damaged the garage as a result of trying to force it open.

Please be aware that overnight between Monday 19 November and Tuesday 20 November 2018 offenders have thrown a bottle at the windscreen of a parked motor vehicle near commercial premises at Farmer Ward Road, Kenilworth.
