At Crown Watch we have been increasingly frustrated by so many residents and their apparent indifference to warnings and advice from the Police and Neighbourhood Watch about crime. In our current (November Edition) Kenilworth Update we mentioned that over 50% of crime in the town related to items being taken from unattended motor vehicles that are either insecure (unlocked) or items have been left on show.
Within the past 12 days the town has been run ragged by criminals increasingly attracted to the town for what they are see are easy and rich pickings. The latest events are detailed below and as you read them we ask you to consider that most of the latest victims probably thought ‘it won’t happen to me’ but now it has. Are you next, is your vehicle locked as you read this, what have you left in the car on show or even in the boot on your drive.
In addition, Crown Watch have taken the unprecedented step of writing to the Chief Constable about the delays in receiving crime alerts. As you will see from this post some of the crimes reported date back some 12 days and this undermines what we are trying to do by keeping the community informed and enabling them to protect themselves and their property. We will post what we have said to the Chief Constable shortly.
