Criminal Damage – Quarry Road, Kenilworth

Between Saturday 1 September & Sunday 2 September 2018 offenders have scratched all along the offside of parked black BMW saloon whilst parked in Quarry Road, Kenilworth.

Kenilworth Burglaries & Thefts affect homes and retail

WARWICKSHIRE POLICE have informed Kenilworth Watch of the latest crimes to have taken place across Kenilworth. Both householders and retail premises have been victims of crime over the past few days and this heightens the need for vigilance from everyone and all sections of Kenilworth’s community.

With darker nights approaching Kenilworth Watch is emphasising the need for everyone to review their security and protection of their property, belongings and homes. A spokesperson for Kenilworth Watch said “Almost everyone can do something if they look hard enough to improve with their security, even little things can make a difference and deter criminals. What we are saying is that everyone should take time to really look at security, not wait to be the next victim of crime”.

The details of the latest crimes are as follows:

Burglary – Henry Street, Kenilworth
Please be aware that between 17.30hrs and 18.00hrs on Tuesday 22 September 2018 offenders have entered the rear garden of a house in Henry Street, Kenilworth by forcing the back gate lock open. They accessed a garden shed in the rear garden of the property and removed approximately £800 of materials.

Burglary – John O Gaunt Road, Kenilworth
Between 19.00hrs on Monday 17 September 2018 and 19.00hrs on Tuesday 18 September 2018 offenders have entered a property in John O Gaunt Road, Kenilworth by forcing the back door of the property. Once inside offenders made an untidy search, it is not clear if anything was taken.

Vehicle Theft – Bullimore Grove, Kenilworth
Between Midnight and 03.00hrs on Tuesday 18 September 2018 offenders have stolen a Grey Land Rover Discovery from a driveway belonging to a property in Bullimore Grove, Kenilworth. This theft took place without the offenders accessing the property or taking and using the stolen vehicle’s keys.

Burglary – Brookside Avenue, Kenilworth
Offenders have broken into a property in Brookside Avenue, Kenilworth through an upstairs window. Once inside an untidy search was made.

Burglary – The Square, Kenilworth
Between 1700hrs on Monday 17 September 2018 and 0900hrs on Tuesday 18 September 2018 retail premises at The Square, Kenilworth were broken into from the rear. A rear door was smashed enabling offenders to gain entry to the premises and remove a safe.

Attempt Burglary, Warwick Road, Kenilworth
Between 1700hrs on Wednesday 19 September 2018 and 0900hrs Thursday 20 September 2018 offenders have attempted to break into retail premises at Warwick Road, Kenilworth. The offenders tried to force bars apart on a window at the rear of the premises but were unsuccessful.

Vehicle Registration Plate Theft, High Street, Kenilworth
Overnight between Friday 21 September 2018 and Saturday 22 September 2018 offenders have removed and taken both front and rear vehicle registration plates from a secured and unattended black Volkswagen Golf whilst parked on High Street, Kenilworth.

Weekend Burglaries – Kenilworth

Householders in Kenilworth are being advised to remain vigilant and review their home security as two burglaries have taken place at properties over the weekend in different parts of the town.

Between Friday 14 September 2018 and 1800hrs on Sunday 16 September 2018 offenders have broken into a property at Lindisfarne Drive, Kenilworth via a rear window. While inside the property offenders made an untidy search with some items of  jewellery being taken.

Between 17.00hrs on Thursday 13 September 2018 and 20.30hrs on Sunday 16 September 2018 offenders have broken into a house at Rounds Hill, Kenilworth. it is believed that the offenders gained entry by forcing an upstairs window from a flat roof. Once inside the property the offenders carried out an untidy search. It is unclear at this stage if anything has been taken.

Car Key Burglary – Whitemoor Road

Vigilance needs to remain uppermost in residents minds with the news that overnight between 2000hrs on Saturday evening (15 September 2018) and 0800hrs Sunday morning (16 September 2018) offenders have entered a home at Whitemoor Road, Kenilworth and taken the keys to a Blue Honda Jazz and stolen the motor vehicle from the drive of the property.

This latest event reinforces the need for all residents to ensure that the security of their vehicles is as effective as possible.

  • Please make sure that vehicle keys are not left near doors or in sight from windows.
  • Please also keep all doors to your home locked at all times, even when you are inside the property
  • Consider security lighting that is activated by person approaching your home or vehicle
  • Consider CCTV, there are many inexpensive web based systems now that are now available and they do help to deter thieves

Burglary & Thefts

It looks as if burglars may have been thwarted by a neighbour at a Kenilworth property while thefts have taken place in two other locations across the town. These latest events heighten the importance for everyone to be and remain vigilant at all times. Most offending takes place because an opportunity arises. Consequently, the more vigilant we each are about our own security, property and belongings and keeping an eye out for others means opportunity for the criminal is significantly reduced.

Please be aware that between 1 September and 6 September 2018 the rear door of a property in Siddeley Avenue, Kenilworth was forced with offender/s entering the property and making an untidy search. It is possible the offenders were disturbed by a neighbour and they left via a rear window. It is unclear at this stage if any property was taken.

Theft

Between 8pm and 9pm at a property in Southbank Road, Kenilworth on 6 September 2018 a red large frame 15 gear “Raleigh” mountain bike was stolen.

Theft

A bag attached to a pushchair was stolen between 1pm and 2pm at Pipers Lane, Kenilworth on 6 September 2018. The bag contained bank cards, a smartphone and quantity of cash.
