A burglary over the Christmas period at Inchbrook Road, Kenilworth has been followed by two Ford vehicles both being stolen from addresses elsewhere in the town overnight between the 2 and 3 January 2018.

Kenilworth Watch News says that this just reinforces the need for local people to remain vigilant and take all the steps they can to ensure property is secure and deterrents are in place. Kenilworth Watch News also said they would like to see much more visibility of Police Officers on patrol in and around our town to support the town’s two Police Community Support Officers and local residents as there is a limit to what individual householders can do. Regular police patrols gather intelligence and provide a deterrent, without them criminals are more emboldened because the likelihood of being caught is low.

The details of the latest incidents are:

Inchbrook Road, Kenilworth

Between 22 and 27 December, offenders broke into a home under renovation in Inchbrook Road, Kenilworth through an insecure rear door.  Once inside, the offenders stole building materials. Incident 93 of 2 January 2018

Henry Street, Kenilworth

During the night of 2 into 3 January, offenders stole a Ford vehicle from outside a home in Henry Street, Kenilworth after smashing the glass in the door.  The owner of the vehicle is still in possession of the keys. Incident 104 of 3 January 

Redfern Avenue, Kenilworth

During the night of 2 into 3 January, offenders stole a Ford Transit van from outside a home in Redfern Avenue, Kenilworth.  The owner of the vehicle still has the keys. Incident 114 of 3 January 2018

Offenders got more than they bargained for when they attempted a burglary in Kenilworth. The family pet was having none of their criminal behaviour so bit one of the offenders as they tried to kick the door in through a cat flap! The offenders were doggone as result empty handed.

However residents of Kenilworth are being advised to remain vigilant as Burglaries continue around the town.

Guy Road, Kenilworth – Attempted Burglary

Between 2.45 and 4.45pm on 7 December, offenders attempted to kick in the rear door of a home in Guy Road, Kenilworth, via the catflap and was bitten by the family dog. The offender quickly made off. Incident 303 of 7 December

Inchbrook Road, Kenilworth – Burglary

Between 10am on 9 December and 12.30pm on 11 December, offenders broke into a home in Inchbrook Road, Kenilworth and carried out a search of the bedrooms before making off with a wrist watch and items of jewellery. Incident 323 of 11 December

KENILWORTH residents are being warned that burglars are once active in and around the town as three incidents have taken place over the past few days. Two involve burglary and the other was an attempted burglary.

Crackley Lane, Kenilworth

During the night of 24 into 25 November, offenders smashed through a door and into the cellar of a sports club in Crackley lane, Kenilworth. Several items were stolen. This is Incident 75 of 25 November 2017.

Framlingham Grove, Kenilworth

Between 1pm on 27 November and 1am on 28 November, offenders entered a home in Framlingham Grove, Kenilworth through the insecure front door and stole a set of house keys. This is Incident 43 of 27 November 2017.

St Nicholas Avenue, Kenilworth

During the night of 28 into 29 November, offenders attempted to break into a home in St Nicholas Avenue, Kenilworth causing damage to the door handle. The offenders failed to get inside the house and nothing was stolen. This is Incident 146 of 29 November 2017.

Grange Avenue, Kenilworth

Kenilworth residents are advised that burglars remain active in the town.

Between 9am on 14 November and 9am on 15 November 2017, offenders broke into a home in Grange Avenue, Kenilworth by smashing a pane of glass in a rear window.

Once inside the house, the offenders carried out a messy search of a bedroom before making off.  Nothing appears to have been stolen.

A security guard and a householders dog may well have prevented offenders from stealing property in two separate events across Kenilworth. In both cases nothing appears to have been taken with the offenders making off. Kenilworth watch praises the actions of the security guard who deterred five suspect offenders!

A Kenilworth Watch  spokesperson said “It’s great that in both cases the offenders were frightened off because they thought they might get caught. However, what these events show is that these people are in our midst, prowling our town and they are opportunists. It’s down to everyone of us to close off all opportunities as much as possible that might make our homes easy targets. No one wants to be burgled, least of all at Christmas.”

These latest two events took place as follows:

Kenilworth Railway Station – Priory Road/Waverley Road, Kenilworth

At just after 8pm on 11 November, a witness saw 5 males breaking into the building site of Kenilworth Railway Station.  It is not clear if anything was stolen but the offenders were disturbed by a security guard and made off.                                                                                                                          Incident 372 of 11 November 2017

Crackley Cottages, Coventry Road, Kenilworth

Between 11.20am and 2.30pm on 13 November, offenders kicked in the rear door of a home in Crackley Cottages, Kenilworth.  Nothing was disturbed or stolen from the house and the offenders made have been disturbed by the family dog.                                                                                  Incident 302 of 13 November 2017
