Crown Watch is advising Kenilworth residents to exercise vigilance at all times, especially throughout the day. The advice comes as a burglary took place in the middle of the day.

Between 11.45am and 2.20pm on 20 June 2016, offenders entered the rear garden of a home in Finham Road, Kenilworth by lifting a fencing panel.

They then entered the house through the rear door. Once inside, the offenders carried out a search before making off with numerous items, including an Xbox

Warwickshire Polic have issued an urgent appeal this evening to help find a missing Kenilworth man.

Can you help Warwickshire Police to find Phillip Glover?

Phillip Glover, aged 61, was last seen at his home on Albion Street, Kenilworth, this morning (Friday 27 May).

Phillip is white, 5 foot 7 inches tall, with shaven brown hair. He was last seen wearing a grey jacket and green jumper and carrying a bag.

Phillip sometimes walks the Greenway between Kenilworth and Coventry so please keep a look out for him if you are using this route.

Warwickshire Police have become aware of a new type of telephone fraud that has occurred in the past week. Inspector Daf Goddard is urging everyone to be aware of this new type of fraud and to make sure that this warning is promptly shared as much and as widely with friends, neighbours and relatives.

Fraudsters are cold-calling elderly people purporting to be from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC). They are requesting the transfer of funds for overdue taxes and making threats of arrest if people do not comply.

Warwickshire Police would urge people to end any telephone conversations of this nature immediately and report the incident by calling 101 or Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

HMRC do NOT telephone individuals demanding payment of taxes nor do they ask for immediate transfer of monies from from taxpayers bank accounts by telephone. No matter how plausible any such telephone call maybe DO NOT provide any personal details or transfer monies.

Replace the receiver and when you come to use the telephone again make sure the line has cleared and there is a dialling tone , if you do not do so then the fraudsters could still be on the line and pretend to be who you think you are telephoning.

Incidents at homes in Malthouse Lane & Upper Spring Lane, Kenilworth and Red Lane, Burton Green recorded by Warwickshire Police have led to Crown Watch warning residents that they need to ensure they review their home and garden security.

The events demonstrate that criminals are present visiting the area and are looking for opportunities. Lawn mower thefts indicate there is a demand for such items which in turn means garden shed/garage security measures need reviewing and tightening where possible.

The warning comes after the following incidents, which have occurred at homes in the Kenilworth area over recent days:

Malthouse Lane, Kenilworth

At just after 3.30pm on 10 May 2016 offenders smashed the rear french doors of a home in Malthouse Lane, Kenilworth and entered the premises. This activated the intruder alarm and the offenders made off empty handed. Incident 248 of 10 May refers.

Upper Spring Lane, Kenilworth

At some point in the three weeks up to 10 May, offenders forced open a secure shed in the garden of a home in Upper Spring Lane, Kenilworth and entered the premises to steal a lawn mower, which was secured with a chain. Incident 124 of 10 May refers.

Red Lane, Burton Green, Kenilworth

During the night of 13 into 14 May, offenders broke into the integral garage of a home in Red Lane, Burton Green. Once inside the garage, the offenders stole a lawn mower. Incident 167 of 14 May refers.

These events reinforce the need to heed previous warnings given by Kenilworth’s Safer Neighbourhood Team.

• Don’t open and leave garage doors open or unattended – they are a shop window for criminals driving around – if they see what they are after they could be back to pay you a visit.
• Consider a burglar alarm, monitored alarms these days are competitively priced, can cost less than a daily newspaper and they deter criminals from trying their luck breaking into your home.
• Garden sheds are best protected by two, not one padlocks. Invest in strong locks and braces and use coach bolts to fit the braces not screws, this makes it much harder for criminals to break in.
• If you notice vehicles cruising around your neighbourhood and occupants looking very interested in properties then report your suspicion to Warwickshire Police on 101. If possible try and make a note of the type, colour and vehicle registration number. Police can then check it out.

 

Kenilworth Residents are advised that long delays maybe experienced by drivers over the weekend (Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th April 2016) as a result of a Horse Fair being held at Thickthorn, Kenilworth.

The A452 (Kenilworth between A46 & Leamington – Warwick Road) is likely to be most affected with traffic control systems in use at busy times over the weekend.

Major disruption was experienced on Friday evening (22nd April 2016) as a result of many vehicles and visitors arriving for the Horse Fair. This led to several miles of queues of traffic on the A46 Warwick Bypass as well as local roads in Kenilworth.

Residents are advised to avoid using the A452 at or near Thickthorn over the weekend and choose an alternative route. Please advise any visitors planning to come to Kenilworth to see you over the weekend to also avoid Thickthorn and the A452.
