KENILWORTH WATCH works alongside Warwickshire Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team for Kenilworth and provides 24/7 crime alerts for the town. The Watch system, a modern internet, email, and social media-based service, was featured on BBC One on Easter Monday and repeated on BBC Two earlier this morning (6 April).

As a direct result of the broadcasts, over 60 more residents have joined Kenilworth Watch in the past 24 hours. Some 1,260 homes in and around Kenilworth are now part of Kenilworth Watch and crucially will receive up to date crime alerts 24/7.

A further five residents have joined the CCTV register that Kenilworth Watch also operates; this takes the number of Kenilworth households registered with CCTV to around sixty.

A Kenilworth Watch spokesperson said

“We are pleased that so many members of our town are so community-minded and are part of Kenilworth Watch. With such a high and growing number of households signed up for our free service, we can ensure that we help keep the town safe, deter crime and support Warwickshire Police. The CCTV register is a cracking example of how we can help our police by reducing the time they spend investigating crime and getting them closer to a result”.

KENILWORTH is due to be featured in the TV programme Frontline Fightback on BBC One at 11am on Easter Monday 5 April 2021. 

The programme, which is about how police and communities are fighting back against crime and criminals, will feature Kenilworth Watch’s CCTV Register scheme which was developed by and given to the town by neighbouring Finham Neighbourhood Watch, Coventry.

With around 1,100 people across Kenilworth now signed up to Kenilworth Watch, the group which works closely with Warwickshire Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team for Kenilworth, is one of the largest neighbourhood crime alert notification schemes in the County.

The key element of Kenilworth Watch is their 24/7 automatic emails and tweets the moment a crime alert is issued for the Kenilworth area.

Please be aware that at approximately 1530hrs on Saturday 27 March 2021 an electric Qualcast lawnmower was stolen as the householder at a property in Rouncil Lane, Kenilworth left it unattended outside on their front lawn for only three minutes. The householder came back out of their property to see a mustard coloured van making off with the lawnmower.

Please be aware that between 0300hrs and 0315hrs on Wednesday 24 March 2021 two offenders have got out of a motor vehicle and stolen 43 pyracantha bushes from a property at Dencer Drive, Kenilworth

Please be aware that between 1430hrs on Thursday 25 March and 0600hrs on Friday 26 March 2021 offenders have entered the rear garden of a property at Hodgetts Lane, Burton Green, Kenilworth and stolen a black and green ‘Carrera Vulcan 24”’ mountain bicycle (the bicycle has damage to its right side handle grip) and a black with grey stripes  ‘Bergamot Revox 29” bicycle.
