Three homes were burgled in Kenilworth in one night with three cars being stolen after criminals had entered the homes and obtained vehicle keys. These latest events saw Audi, Jaguar and BMW vehicles stolen as offenders entered homes in the middle of the night.

Kenilworth Watch News are seeking assurances from Warwickshire Police that these latest car key thefts are receiving a high priority in terms of investigation and the apprehending of offenders.

A spokesperson for Kenilworth Watch News said “ There is a limit as to what people can do to protect their homes and vehicles. We encourage residents to do all they can but when the town is being hit like it has and is being with car key burglaries it’s about investigations and regular police patrols. We want an assurance on these needs as some residents are becoming frightened and dismayed.”

The latest events took place in the early hours of 6 October at addresses in Common Lane and Glasshouse Lane.

Common Lane, Kenilworth

Incident 32 of 6 October – At just before 2am on 6 October, offenders entered a home in Common Lane, Kenilworth and stole a set of keys to an Audi vehicle. The offenders then used the keys to steal the vehicle from outside.

Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth

Incident 63 of 6 October – During the night of 5 into 6 October, offenders broke into a home in Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth through a side window and stole a set of car keys and a wallet. The offenders then used the keys to steal the Jaguar vehicle from outside.

Incident 72 of 6 October – During the same night, offenders broke into another home in Glasshouse Lane, through the rear conservatory. Once inside the house, the offenders stole the keys to a BMW vehicle and again, used them to steal the vehicle from outside.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious or has any information on these crimes are asked to contact Warwickshire Police on 101.

A string of recent events have demonstrated that criminals are continuing to visit Kenilworth and seeking opportunities to commit crime. Residents are advised to remain vigilant at all times and where they believe something is suspicious to report it to Police as soon as possible.

Spring Lane, Kenilworth

Between 10pm on 11 September and 6pm on 16 September, offenders entered allotments in Spring Lane, Kenilworth and then forced the hasp and staple off the door of a secure shed. Once inside, the offenders carried out a search before making off with numerous items. Incident 377 of 16 September

Wordsworth Drive, Kenilworth

At 7.40am on 16 September, the resident of a home in Wordsworth Drive, Kenilworth heard a vehicle pull up outside the house and, after a short while, went to investigate. The resident saw two males leant over a pile of scrap lead, out of sight at the side of the house and asked who they were.

The males pointed up and said ‘roofman’ and then placed the lead into the rear of a white van with a registration similar to FL52 L*X and drove off.

The resident then discovered that another stack of lead had also been stolen.

The offenders are described as two Eastern European males, with tanned/ olive skin. They were both around 6ft tall with slim builds and short shaven dark hair. They were both in their mid 20’s and both wore dark coloured tshirts and tracksuit bottoms. Incident 82 of 16 September

Common Lane, Kenilworth

Between 8.30am on 9 September and 3pm on 16 September, offenders entered the rear garden of a home in Common Lane, Kenilworth and then entered the garage. Nothing appears to have been stolen. Incident 288 of 16 September.

Spring Lane, Kenilworth

Between 7 and 14 September, offenders broke into another shed on the allotment site in Spring Lane, Kenilworth. Once inside, the offenders stole a red ‘Mantis’ petrol cultivator and its securing D lock. Incident 172 of 16 September.

Warwickshire Police have advised that two Burglaries have taken place in recent days in Kenilworth.

Bullimore Grove, Kenilworth

Between midnight on 15 August and 3.45pm on 19 August, offenders entered the rear garden of a home in Bullimore Grove, Kenilworth and then kicked in the lower panel of the rear door into the house.

Once inside, the offenders carried out a search of all rooms, causing damage but nothing was stolen. The offenders also interfered with security devices, again causing damage.

Hyde Road, Kenilworth

Between 11.30am and 6.30pm on 21 August, offenders entered a home in Hyde Road, Kenilworth, possibly through an insecure front door. Once inside the house, the offenders stole a handbag from the lounge area before making off.

Station Road, Kenilworth

The quick actions of a member of the public has been praised by Kenilworth Watch News after an immediate phone call to police led to officers arresting a suspect during a break in. This is the sort of vigilance we need from local residents.

At  around 2.20 in the early hours of 9 August, the resident of a flat in Warwick House, Station Road, Kenilworth heard the noise of a window breaking in the flat below. The resident looked out of the window and saw a male climbing through the broken window and called Police Officers.

Police officers arrived at the flat and located and arrested the offender at the scene.

Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth

Meanwhile an attempt at a break in has been reported at a property in Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth.  Between 9am on 4 August and 4pm on 6 August, offenders attempted to force open the front door of a home in Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth. The offenders caused damage to the door but failed to get inside the house and nothing was stolen.

Both incidents reinforce the continued need for vigilance and the benefit of acting quickly by reporting things that are suspicious.
