Incidents at homes in Woodcote Avenue, Park Hill and Siddeley Avenue, Kenilworth

Crown Watch are advising vigilance continues after more burglaries have taken place in the last few days across Kenilworth. However, vigilance does pay when its backed up by swift action by residents. As you will see below the vigilance and actions of a witness led to offenders being caught in the act. This proves its worth keeping a lookout and not leaving it to someone to report things.

The following incidents, have occurred at homes in Kenilworth over recent days:

Incident 161 of 17 April 2015

Between 10am and 12.50pm on 17 April, offenders smashed a kitchen window at a home in Woodcote Avenue, Kenilworth and climbed through in to the house. Once inside, the offenders carried out an untidy search before making off with many items of jewellery.

Incident 212 of 17 April 2015

Between 12noon and 2.30pm on 17 April, offenders attempted to break in to a home in Park Hill, Kenilworth. The offenders entered the porch through an insecure door and then smashed the front door glass. The offenders failed to get in to the house and nothing was stolen.

Incident 235 of 19 April 2015

At around 5pm on 19 April, a witness in Siddeley Avenue saw a youth enter a neighbouring home in Siddeley Avneue, Kenilworth and called police. Officers arrived to find the offenders still inside the house and he was arrested.

Please be aware that there have been incidents that have occurred at homes in Lulworth Park & Dalehouse Lane, Kenilworth over recent days. Details below.

Crown Watch is appealing to residents to act faster when they see something suspicious. A vigilant resident in Whitemoor Road telephoned the police to report a man was acting suspiciously, trying to look down the side passages between houses at approximately 9.00pm. He was described as bald-headed wearing unusual, stripy trousers, like pyjama bottoms.

However, it has become apparent that other residents spotted a man fitting the same description acting suspiciously an hour earlier but did not report it. The police responded to the call made by the Whitemoor Road resident but it’s obvious that an earlier call from those noticing things would have given the police a better chance of checking the individual out.

Lulworth Park, Kenilworth

During the night of 14/15 April 2015, offenders smashed the rear patio door of a home in Lulworth Park, Kenilworth in an attempt to get in to the house. The offenders caused damage but failed to get in and nothing was stolen. This was Incident 73 of 15 April 2015Incident 248 of 15 April 2015.

Dalehouse Lane, Kenilworth

At some point before 4.20pm on 15 April 2015, offenders forced open the door to an integral garage at a home in Dalehouse Lane, Kenilworth.

Once inside the garage, the offenders then opened the internal door in to the house and entered the property. The offenders carried out a search but nothing is believed to have been stolen.

The Easter period has seen the number of burglaries across Kenilworth significantly increase. Residents are being warned that they need to take more time to notice things going on around their neighbourhoods and report anything that looks suspicious after a number of break ins have taken place as a result of offenders going round the backs of properties and forcing rear windows and doors.

Crown Watch is encouraging people to be nosey, not in the sense of other people’s business, but nosey about what is going on outside in the street, road or footpath, who is that person walking down or around a property? What is that car or van that has gone down the road three times in the past few minutes?

Details of the latest crimes, that have taken place in the eastern area of the Kenilworth, are as follows;

Arbour Close, Kenilworth

Between 6.20pm and 10pm on 7 April 2015, offenders broke into a home in Arbour Close, Kenilworth, via a rear groundfloor window. Once inside, the offenders carried out a search before making off with a quantity of cash and items of jewellery.

Lulworth Park, Kenilworth

Between midday on 2pm and 6pm on 3 April 2015, offenders attempted to break in to a home in Lulworth Park, Kenilworth. Damage was caused to a rear window but the offenders are not believed to have entered the house and nothing was stolen.

Whitemoor Road, Kenilworth

Between 2 and 4 April, offenders entered a home in Whitemoor Road, Kenilworth through a rear kitchen window. Once inside, the offenders carried out a search before making off with several items.

Leyes Lane, Kenilworth

At some point before 4pm on 4 April, offenders kicked in the rear door of a home in Leyes Lane, Kenilworth and entered the house. Once inside, the offenders stole all of the kitchen knives before making off.

Thornby Avenue, Kenilworth

Between 7pm on 2 April and 8.30pm on 6 April, offenders broke into a home in Thornby Avenue, Kenilworth, after forcing the lock on the French doors. Once inside, the offenders carried out a search before making off with a cashbox containing cash, a jewellery box and its contents, along with a diamond necklace and diamond earrings.

Between Thursday 4th April 2015 and Saturday 6th April 2015 a property in Whitemoor Road, Kenilworth was burgled. Access was made at the rear of the property through the garage. Residents are advised to be be vigilant and keep a special lookout for persons loitering around neighbourhoods or seen in and around neighbours gardens etc. If you see something suspicious please contact the police immediately.

(This latest notification/alert has been posed by Crown Watch Neighbourhood Watch as Warwickshire Police have failed to notify us of any burglaries in the past couple of weeks in Kenilworth through their alert system despite this one occurring on our watch area! Crown Watch is seeking a meeting with the Southern Warwickshire Area Commander as it feels despite several past referrals the crime alert system is NOT fit for purpose as it is unreliable and as it appears not to be process based it is NOT robust.)

Catalytic Convertor Thefts & Another Burglary – Kenilworth

Between 23.00hrs on the 25 March 2015 & 07.30hrs on the 27 March 2015 on Mayfield Drive and between 22.15hrs on the 29 March 2015 & 10.00hrs on 30 March 2015 at Chatsworth Grove there were thefts of catalytic converters from two vehicles. This involved person/s using tools to access the exhaust systems under the vehicles on private drives. Residents are advised to be vigilant

On 1 April 2015 in Arbour Close a burglary took place between 18.20hrs and 22.00hrs. Person/s gained entry via a rear gate and entered a property through a downstairs window.
Items of jewellery and money were taken and offenders left in an unknown direction.
